OLA School student Nathan Oliver has been collecting cans, bottles, and donations for the purchase of new recycling containers for Affinito Hall all summer. Parishioners have been saving their cans and bottles, and the first drop off weekend in July was a tremendous success. (See pictures from the first collection weekend at the end of this blog post.) Nathan collected dozens of bags of cans and bottles, plus monetary donations. Thank you for your generosity!
The recycling challenge concludes this coming weekend, Saturday, August 2nd and Sunday, August 3rd. You can drop off your cans and bottles at OLA after all of the weekend Masses. No donation is too small. Every can and bottle makes a difference! If you want to redeem your cans and bottles on your own, you may donate your proceeds to OLA. Please indicate "Affinito Hall Recycling Containers" on your donation. Click HERE to make a donation online towards the Affinito Hall recycling containers via Flocknote Online Giving. Please select the option to add a memo for your donation and type "Affinito Hall Recycling Containers" in the memo field.
Nathan will be taking all donated cans and bottles to the Capital City Recycling Center for redemption, and then he will donate all of the proceeds to OLA for the purchase of the new recycling containers. According to the Capital City Recycling Center website, “Consumers pay California Redemption Value (CRV) when they purchase beverages from a retailer and receive CRV refunds when they redeem the containers at a recycling center. Most beverage packaged in aluminum, glass, plastic and bi-metal containers are eligible for CRV.” If you want more information about redeeming CRV bottles and cans, visit https://capcityrecycling.com/crv-bottles-cans/.
Thank you for your support, and keep recycling!
