Tuesday & Thursdays following 8 am Mass until 7 pm
First Saturday following 8 am Mass until 3 pm
Adoration is essentially an embrace with Jesus in which I say to him: “I am yours, and I ask you, please stay with me always.”
- Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
The Magi (the Three Wise Men) were the first to say, “We have come to do him homage.” The presence of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is as real today as the infant Jesus was to the Wise Men who sought him by following a star rising in the East. As St. John Paul II affirmed in his encyclical on the relationship of the Eucharist to the Church, “…the gaze of the Church is constantly turned to her Lord, present in the Sacrament of the Altar, in which she discovers the full manifestation of his boundless love.” (Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 1)
Eucharistic adoration is the act of worshiping God as He is present in the consecrated Eucharist. This is the essential link to Eucharist for us. Adoration is our opportunity to sit with the Blessed Sacrament and pray and reflect on the actions Jesus took in the Last Supper and on his very real Presence in the Bread and Wine. We, too, become like the Wise Men at his birth and say, “We have come to do him homage.”
